Aeronwy feared the boats, more so the water. Learning to swim near the blight was not one of her highest priorities and she had yet to find reason to do so now, there was almost always a bridge to cross over foot, or Anna would carry her safely across. There was rarely an occasion she needed to travel the waters herself. To be over the water for that long wasn't any comfort to Aeronwy.
Aeronwy begrudgingly walked the plank to the waiting ferry with Anna in tow and Jack perched on her shoulder. Both animals felt at ease as Aeronwy walked the rickety plank to meet the semi solid platform that was the ferry boat. Aeronwy tried not to show her discomfort but she knew that it showed, it was hard not to hid such a fear, she was only glad it wasn't a paralyzing fear as snakes had been for her little sister. Description: Lyssandra is fairly tall, and slender. She is obviously of commoner stock, but she manages to be pretty in a wiry sort of way. Her hair is chest length, and she keeps it pulled back out of her face.

Typical Dress: She normally can be found in either riding leathers, or at the very least, some form of dress cut for riding. While proud of being able to own silk, and fond of wearing it when reason dictates, she doesn't see the need to be in it always, as it's not the most practical for exploring.

History: Lyssa (as she is known to her friends and family) was born on a horse ranch near the village of Barlin in Kandor, north of the road running from Maradon to Chachin. She idolized her older brother, and wanted to be like him in every way she could. This mainly took the form of riding around after him when he was tending to the horses or patrolling their land for potential dangers.

And of dangers, there were many. Besides thieves and bandits, the Beline family had to contend with the occasional Trolloc raid. It was a combination of these assaults upon her home and the homes of others, as well as her underwhelming physical strength that made her dream of becoming an Aes Sedai. She very much wanted to be able to make a difference, to protect those that needed protecting.

With this in mind, she snuck away from home when she was 17. The road was fraught with perils, but she eventually made it to the White Tower, where she found that she did indeed have the talent. Years of training proved that she also had the skill and dedication needed to attain the ring, and then the shawl. She joined the Green Ajah upon being granted the rank of Aes Sedai, and spent her initial years after being raised learning the ways of her new family. Lyssa trained as hard with her weaves as she was unable to do with her body, and learned as much as she could about combat and protection as she could.

Why is your character in Mayene or coming to Mayene? She wanted a chance to do something of value, as well as to look for her first Warder or Warders. She figures that an important port such as Mayene would provide an ample sampling of potential picks as they passed through.

What would you like to do with your character? Undecided - she'll decide what she's about as I get to writing her.

[ Entertainment ] The Castle Theater

Location Name: The Castle Theater

Outside Description:
This red brick two story building features vaudeville type entertainment. The theater has worn gargoyle downspouts and a large mural of entertainers, jugglers, gleemen, and comics on the front. There are 4 windows with shutters across the front at the second story level.

The double door entrance has ornate carvings of leaves and mythical creatures from Shara. The doors are thrown wide one hour before performances are to begin. There is a side door access to the back stage area, and external stairs leading up to an entrance on the second story.

Inside Description:
Just inside the front doors a single story lobby area offers access to the money takers. There are no tickets and therefore no assigned seating. However ushers generally seat people quickly and efficiently as they come in. The lobby is plain and only adorned with a few paintings on the walls, but people don't spend much time in there unless a line builds up.

The 2 story auditorium, is a single large room, with no balconies, box seating, or windows. The heavy red velvet curtains in front of the stage are old but well maintained. Seating has a wide central aisle with long benches on either side. The benches are heavy, solidly build, and gorgeous with hand crafted details on the aisle side, and along the backs. The wood is stained a dark color, and sealed with a glossy finish.

The stage is small but does contain some special features for actors. A trap door in the floor for secret entrances and exits, as well as a curtain backdrop that one could walk behind without being seen. The lighting on stage is good, but the acoustics are not great. Many times people can't hear in the back rows if the performer fails to project his/her voice well enough.

The entertainment is usually skit based with different performers and acts each time the curtain lifts. Usually good quality entertainment, The Castle has been know to host some stinkers that were booed off the stage. The patrons are typically middle class "out for a night on the town" and there are rarely problems with crowd control.

The upstairs waiting/dressing room holds entertains who arrive early or wish to stay the night. It has simple but comfortable, if mismatched, furnishings including a well polished silver mirror. There are several chairs and many pillows thrown around. The patrons never see this room, only the entertainers. There is a small table that is occasionally used by the manager when negotiating prices with entertainers.

History:
The building is old, and has changed hands, as well as names, many times. Local folk can remember the time it was gutted by a fire, back when it was called Shore Entertainment. One of the curtains caught fire during the performance of a juggler throwing flaming batons. Some people were trampled to death as the crowd raced for the doors. Fortunately the fire was brought under control (with an Aes Sadai's help) before it spread to other buildings. Since then jugglers are not allowed to use flame in their acts.

After being shut down for almost 8 years, the building was sold again. The current owners had to renovated the inside when they bought the building but that was some ten years ago. The Castle theater has managed to earn it's reputation and has become a local favorite.

Location Name: The Laughing Dog Tavern

Outside Description:
The sign outside shows a dog's head smiling as if about to laugh. While no words formally declare it as such, all the locals call it the Laughing Dog or sometimes just the "The Dog" Foreigners sometimes out themselves by calling it the "Smiling Dog"

The store front had no windows, and the door only has a small slide that can be opened from the inside. The peeling paint would indicate this structure is not well maintained but but smaller clues show that the important parts have been expertly repaired.

Inside Description:
Sturdy unpainted wooden furniture, worn smooth from years of use is crammed into this small space. The faint smell of alcohol, liquor, sweat, and pipe smoke seems to linger in the room no matter how many people are there.

Closed during the day, it is open late into the night with a good mix of sailors from the docks and locals who live in the slums around the docks. Order is kept fairly well, although it can get rowdy at times. The barkeep Vork is a strong man and capable of breaking up even drunken sailors who get too violent.

He also is capable of throwing out patrons who refuse to pay. There are a few hard working men with families to support who occasionally find Vork's soft spot and get away with free drinks for a night.

Vork frequently knows news from far and away, or at least hearsay from sailors. He is willing to part with more secret information lost by drunk lips, for a price.

This tavern has a local reputation as a good place to go for drinks at a reasonable price, and good for hanging out with friends after a hard days work. While no entertainment is ever scheduled, there is always something to take the patron's minds off of their worries.

Balding, Vork keeps his head shaved, although not diligently enough. His graying hair frequently forms a stubble the runs from the back top of his skull to his chin. His oval face has deep lines like old leather, and some say his nose could be mistaken for a turnip it's so large. He is missing is right eye and wears an eye patch to cover it, however the patch doesn't cover the curving scar that runs from the center of his forehead down to his cheeck and around to his right ear. His left eye is black and hard as flint. His thick short neck and muscled shoulders give him the appearance of a brick with an egg sitting on top. An egg with a black caterpillar on it, as his bushy eyebrows could easily be mistaken for.

It is said his scowl alone has broken up fights, but it is more likely the short club he keeps behind the bar that's done the breaking. While older he's certainly not frail. He has the thick arms of a blacksmith, and the strong legs of porter. Not tall, but not short he could called average, but only in height. Covered in black body hair some people refer to him as a gorilla, but usually only once if he's within earshot.

Vork has an odd dark sense of humor that usually catches people off guard. While he is generally welcoming to anyone who can pay, he is stoic and doesn't say much otherwise. It's unclear if his brisk manor to others is indifference or dislike. In business deals he is honest, fair, and generally regarded as a good businessman, but no one really calls him a friend.
This man is the proprietor of the Laughing Dog Tavern in the Docks district. He works there as the bar tender and sleeps in the apartment above. He keeps a close eye on patrons and is quick to break up any fights, but he does allow the general carousing that is expected in a rough tavern such as his establishment is.

Patrons who won't pay are physically thrown out, while those who can't pay are asked to leave politely. It seems Vork has a soft spot for some of the less fortunate who live around the dock area.

History:
No one knows much about Vork for sure, although it's pretty clear to most that he's from the borderlands. He's never said why he left or even confirmed that he's from there. Some say he was a deserter, others that he killed a man and fled. One thing everyone knows is true: his explosive hatred of dark friends knows no bounds. Anyone talking or even joking about being dark friends in his presence finds out the hard way that he's willing to fight the dark one on a very personal level.

Those looking for information sometimes approach Vork and find that many secrets are spoken aloud in places where it seems no one cares, or is listening. However, while his eyesight is impaired, his hearing misses nothing. Vork would never sell any information that he felt would help the dark friends. Some say he once cut the tongue out of someone asking for that type of information.
A solitary man with no family, and no friends. He has lived and worked in the area long enough for locals to have a pretty good relationship with him. Description:
Aeronwy is of relatively short status with a typical body type for someone who has been working every day of her life. But she is rather thin for her size due to lack of proper nutrition. Her green tilted Saldaean eyes stand stark against her olive skin and fiery red hair. A prominent nose sits firmly on her delicate face between her high cheek bones.

Typical Dress:
Aeronwy typically wears earthy tones and greens as it helps to better blend in with the wilderness she loves so dearly. Her long bow on her back and a plain knife at her belt are her typical accompaniment.

Personality:
[thread=49] - Fear of water and boats

History:
Aeronwy was born to a family on the outskirts of Mehar, Saldaea. Her father trained birds for various functions such as flying letters from place to another and hunting and retrieving. Her mother was an alchemist and herbologist. Both her mother and her father taught them everything they could about their different trades. But it wasn't until later in life that Aeronwy took to Alchemy, she had a much greater fondness for hunting.

Ever since she was eight years old Aeronwy has had several birds of prey as a constant companion. It was her job to raise the falcons from near fledgling to adult and carry on its care until the bird was too old to carry on as it were. Aeronwy has had three different birds of prey. Her first, at the age of 8, was a Harrier Hawk she called Harry. The second was a White-tailed Kite she called Lin. And her current bird of prey companion is a 4 year old Merlin Falcon she calls Jack.

Aeronwy had two older brothers, 1 younger brother and a younger sister growing up in Mehar. They all learned from their mother and father, and each took to their own adaptations of their chores. The three oldest Zillah children preferred to hunt with their father, while Aeronwy's sister preferred to handle the birds for more mundane things and her youngest brother preferred to work the garden and the potions with their mother. But each of them had chores to do on all fronts of their life, including hunting.

Their father taught them the how to track their prey as well as how to move quietly and not be seen. They learned how to survive in the northern lands in the summer and winter, and their mother ensured they knew enough about plants to get by even when game was sparse. They all learned how to ride a horse, how to defend themselves with their hands and a knife and every single one of the Zillah knew how to handle some sort of ranged weapon. Aeronwy's weapon of choice was the long bow. There were also instructed in reading and writing.

When Aeronwy was 16 she set off on her own. She wanted to see the world and use her skills outside of what she knew at home. She left Mehar with little money and even less in material things. She took her beloved bird of prey and her horse, Anna. Of course her bow and knives accompanied her as well as a few changes of clothes. She also made with her limited skills a few potions to take with her and some herbs and vials for various other reasons.

The next 12 years of her life saw Aeronwy trouble and profit. She learned along the way that what her father had taught her in hunting also applied to survival in the street markets of the large cities. A quick theft here and there to survive didn't bother her conscious any. In her hunting in the city streets she also honed her stealth skills as well as her disguise skills; these were two skills she deemed priority other than the bow and her birds.

Aeronwy is now heading towards Mayene to begin another new life.
The identities of [user=1] and [user=2] are not necessarily meant to be secretive and currently are being monitored by one or two people. These are to be used as administrative accounts only. (Currently these accounts are being monitored by: [user=4])
The idea of this site is to run it ourselves. There are no staff boards hiding from your view, there is only private conversations between those who need a mediator.

There are still several areas of our immediate world that need to be fleshed out.

These are places that we have already made, but also others that are not created yet.

We are in need of several NPCs to be available for training various skills. These NPCs do not have to be played by you if you follow the proper procedure.

There are several locations that are needed in our world that need to be fleshed out, see the [forum=9] forum for unfinished pieces.

We are also in need of other places of business like inns, taverns, smithies, libraries or whatever else you can think of that would enhance the world we play in.

For the places that are already created you need to PM the final formatted piece to [user=1] or [user=2] and they will edit the thread. Feel free to create other locations by posting yourself.

For all NPCs that you do not wish to play yourself for training you need to PM the NPC information fully formatted to [user=1] or [user=2]. If you have no problem playing them in the future please post them yourself.
